He started training back in 1982 with the UKASKO karate association. After one of his friends took him down to the local karate club for a look, within a few months his friend had given up but Daz wasn't going to give up that easily. After a few months of training he was invited to take part in his first ever tournament the FSK in Manchester, although he remembers being beat in the first round he knew he had found his path in Martial Arts and the rest is history! After training with the club and it's instructor's for many years and reaching his black belt 1st Dan in Shukokai karate. Daz realized that it was time to move on feeling restricted within the traditional karate system he was in.

In 1991 Daz opened is own first club called the Leyland Freestyle karate Club, with the EMA. Now he felt he was free to teach and train as he wished and it wasn't long before the club and himself were making a name up and down the country for themselves. After spending some fantastic years and gaining is first W.K.A European title in 1994 with Ann Jackson and the EMA association, Daz felt it was time to move on and do his own thing.

So in 1995 the National Sport Karate Association ( N.S.K.A ) was opened. Over the years the club, association and Daz have gained respect from the martial arts world for their fighting and for his seminars on coaching and tournament fighting. He has over the last twenty years produced 76 British champions, 3 European champions and 22World champions. Not forgetting the hundreds of domestic titles from all the top tournaments up and down the country, that he and his club members attend most weekend.
